Close ups of the varying textures achieved through using the same colours

Relevance to my work

This piece strengthens my understanding of form, texture, and tonal contrast when working from observation. Capturing the structure of the subject has helped develop skills that are transferable to motion design, particularly in building believable forms, lighting, and depth within digital and animated work.

Animal Study

Study: Form and Colour

Medium: Acrylic paints

2023

About This Work

This painting explores texture and structure within an animal subject. I used acrylic paint to build layered tones and capture the contrast between light and shadow. The bright background was chosen to enhance the subject’s presence and create visual impact.
